There are a lot of really groovy places to eat here.  One thing I always tell tourists: fear not eating from a truck.  Street food can be the best food, and as Anthony Bourdain has it, “They don’t stay in business by poisoning their neighbors.”  There are shrimp trucks, taco trucks, steak trucks, even one with bacon wrapped hot dogs.

Also, I want to take you to the little-known but amazing Maui Mike’s.  They’re tucked away in this grubby little shitty end of town which, in spite of the huge number of hookers, druggies and crazy people yelling at themselves, has great food.  They do fire-roasted chicken that has something rubbed on it that’s like crack for your tastebuds.  You never want to stop eating it.

Also, the best burger on the islad is at Kua’aina.  They make a burger that makes your mouth just orgasm.  They do carnival style fries, skin-on and thin cut and crispy as the dickens.  So tasty and dangerous.

I will also cook for you my special Kalua Pork and garlic mashed Okinawan sweet potatoes (they’re purple!) as well as my extra special from-scratch pizza.
